A tireless advocate for chess in Sri Lanka, he consistently organizes high-quality tournaments – including the record-breaking Queenstar Open International Chess Championship – that raise the bar of competition within the country.
Lakmal’s unwavering belief in the benefits of international experience drives him to invite foreign Grandmasters, providing Sri Lankan players an invaluable opportunity to learn without leaving home. His tournaments are renowned for their generous prizes, motivating players of all ages.

From National to International
Academy has excelled in the game of chess, by organizing National Level chess tournaments, and having the highest number of player participation in International & Local competitions over the last 5 years. With these remarkable achievements our Chess Coaching Academy has achieved a unique name throughout the Sri Lanka.
The exposure gained through conducting National Level tournaments over the years, catapulted us to make a giant step forward, as our next successful event in QUEENSTAR, all arrangements have been made to embark the First International Chess Tournament from 16th – 20th April, 2023at Covanro Hotel, Naiwala.
We hope that over 1,000 chess players from all over the island will participate in this tournament. Moreover, leading GRAND MASTERS from foreign countries including India are also expecting to participate. There are over two million cash prizes for the winners and other giveaways already arranged by the organizers.
